I am delighted to have been awarded the 2020 Textile Society critical writing award for ‘An Embroidered Elegy; Mrs Scales Autograph Cloth’. This research from the viewpoint of an embroiderer uncovered the maker and making of a 1936 stitched fundraiser made in Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire. The article is published in the current issue of the journal and a copy has gone to my colleagues and friends in Robin Hood’s Bay Museum.
